“Shark Tank” is a reality television series that provides entrepreneurs an opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of investors or “sharks”, who decide whether to invest in their business. The show is primarily in Hindi language which is being produced by and broadcasted by Sony Pictures Networks India Private Limited (“Company”) on the channel Sony Entertainment
Television (“Channel”) which is owned by the Company and/or its affiliates.
Procedure of Participation /Rules to participate in Shark Tank
As stated and mentioned by Sony Pictures Entertainment Television (SET) in the official circular issued by them, there are following rules to participate in the Show .
REGISTRATION AND APPLICATION –
Firstly the applicant (entrepreneur ,we call him/her B-Man ) Have to register and apply themselves for the pitch to be eligible to present on the show . It can be done through their website.
DETAILED Q & A –
It actually means a question-answer period with the selection team . The team will finalise and shortlist candidates (approx 5,000 ,as mentioned by them on their circular ,it may very depending on various factors ) .
CALL BACK INTERVIEW –
The call back flow will be as follows:
a. The Registrant will receive a call on their registered mobile number. If Registrant is busy
or not reachable then 2 more attempts will be made to call the Registrant at interval of 30
minutes each from the time of the previous attempt.
b. The call executive will welcome the Registrant and asked for preferred language option
which is Hindi or English
c. The call will then be transferred to a person from the Company who will then interview the
Registrant on the basis of the application form and other documents that were submitted in
the previous phase
d. The interview will be for approximately 20 to 30 minutes
e. All Auditionees have to complete the above steps to move to the next round. The Company
representative will be scoring the Registrant basis certain parameters. The scores will be
the qualifying aspect for the next round of auditions. It is necessary for the Auditionee to
have good internet connectivity and a smart phone or similar device throughout the
Audition rounds to be eligible for further processing. No disputes will be entertained
arising out of issues of internet connectivity loss or non-availability of smartphone or
similar device.
f. The decision of the Company in connection with the interview including but not limited to
short listing the Auditionees will be final & binding and is non-contestable. In case of any
dispute or difference in respect of this interview, the decision of the Company shall be final
and binding on all concerned.
4 . In- Person Online Audition –
5. Executive Pitching Round -the main round it is . Actually it is the one we see on the show .
Expenses of Participation and Logistics :
1 . The arrangements for travel and stay of the Participant(s) selected to attend the shoot will be made by the Company (except for accommodation arrangements for the Participants residing in Mumbai).
2. The Company or any of the affiliates connected with the Show shall not be liable for any cancellations and/or delays in the train/ flights/ cars arranged for the Contestant(s) due to any reason including but not limited to force majeure, logistical problems at the airports/ railway
stations/ roads etc. and the Contestant(s) shall not have any claim against the Company and/or any of its affiliates connected with the Show and/or Producer for the same.
3 . The Company or any of the affiliates connected with the Show shall not be responsible for any such eventuality
and the Contestant(s) undertakes not to claim any compensation from the Company/Producer for the same.The Company is not, in any manner, be responsible for logistics and expenses around transporting the product or any ancillary objects that the Contestant needs to carry for the audition or the shoot round.
4 . The cost of transporting any product / licenses required to
demonstrate any product/business pitch, will be the Contestant’s responsibility. The Company may, at its discretion and as per creative requirements, require for some elements/props to be added to the Contestant’s pitch during the shoot of the Show. In such an event, the cost for
such elements and props will be borne by the Company.
5 . It is the sole responsibility of the Contestant to ensure that the products or any ancillary objects
carried by the Contestant is not illegal, dangerous, hazardous, harmful or perishable and will not put anyone around the Contestant at risk. The Company cannot be held liable for any damage to product or any ancillary objects carried by the Contestant during the travel or audition or at the shoot.
6 . In the event the Contestant is unable to carry or transport the product or any ancillary objects or procure licenses that it needs to demonstrate the product or the business pitch during the audition or during the shoot or if the Company in its sole discretion
believes that shooting with the products of the Contestant might cause any harm to the
Contestant or any other person or the product is hazardous in general, then the Company shall have the right to disqualify such Contestant.
