दोस्तों हम सभी अपनी भारतीय मुद्रा को इस ₹ प्रतीक चिन्ह से पहचानते हैं। लेकिन इसी चिन्ह को बनाने के लिए आई आई टी बाम्बे से इंजीनियरिंग करने वाले उदय कुमार ने हजारों Entries को पीछे छोड़ते हुए Indian Currency को यह प्रतीक चिन्ह दिया । और उनके द्वारा बनाये गये इस चिन्ह को प्रथम पुरस्कार भी मिला था।

Uday Kumar Dharma Lingam is an Indian academic and designer noted for his design of the Indian rupee sign. His design was selected from among five short listed symbols. According to Kumar, the design is based on the Indian tricolour.

How the Symbol was designed ?

Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, New Delhi vide their notification dated Feb.2009 announced a competition for the design of symbol for Indian currency with a prize money of Rs.2,50,000/- for the winner.
